Winter in the Alpenhof

Snow guarantee from November to Mai and a widely ramified trail network offer a wide range of activities.

On more than 150 km paths for walking and hiking trails discovers the stroller the natural beauty on mostly flat, gently uphill trails which are of course cleared in winter. We have a large range of proposals for touring ready for every requirement. We do not want you to waste your valuable time with standing in line at the offices of the mountain railways the Bavarian Zugspitbahn therefore we give you the opportunity to receive the tickets here in our Alpenhol.
Alpine-Ski and Snowboard
About 40 mountain railways and ski lifts connect more than 60 km of ski slopes for little beginners and advanced skiers. The skier’s paradise at the Zugspitze guarantee snow from November to Mai and the varied Garmisch-Classic Area offer a versatile skiing fun from practice slopes for the youngest up to the World Cup downhill the new “Kandahar” for experts.
From the Alpenhof you need a bit more than a 5 minute walk to get to the Zugspitzbahn, it connect this both areas and take you quickly and without the search of parking space to the valley station of your preferred mountain railway. Ski pass and multiple-day cards are of course available in our hotel and we have a ski map and numerous good tips for you. Storage facilities for skis and shoes are catered for and our ski boot dryer make your boots comfortably warm. No matter whether you want to carve down the mountain on one or two boards or you want to glide slowly down the valley, we will be happy to provide on request the appropriate skiing course and enroll you.
Cross-country skiing fans
can expect a 16 km long trail network: cross-country skier and snowboarder will be guided by our magnificent winter landscape and romantically snow-covered forests and have a direct connection to the Garmisch and Isartaler trail network that brings joy to every one regardless of skiing ability and physical condition. A floodlight round tour completes the pleasure.
A great fun not only for the little ones! In Grainau you have an easy tobogganing hill for children and in the neighboring village several partly very challenging natural toboggan runs with a length of 1 – 4 km, where also night sledding is organized. Our own toboggans can be used of course free of charge.
Even in summer you do not have to forego the pleasure to race down rapidly the slopes, because both young and old have fun on the summer toboggan run situated in Garmisch-Partenkirchen nearby the Ski Stadium.
Skating and curling
In the town centre of Grainau there is the natural ice field where one can skate or participate in the weekly held curling tournaments for guests. But you have also the possibility to slide over the ice on the Eibsee and the Riesersee; and all those, to whom it is too cold outside they can go to see the Olympia-Eisstadion in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
